After five years of strong performance in the United Kingdom (UK) water and transportation infrastructure markets, Utilis has opened an office in London and tapped Steve Baker, an executive with vast industry knowledge to lead operations. Steve has over 25 years’ experience working for water companies, consultants, and contractors, most recently for AECOM as the Operations Director for the Water, Ports and Power business.
Infrastructure operators in the UK are some of the most technologically advanced in the world, quickly adopting the Utilis satellite-based leak detection solution five years ago to find underground undetected leaks as part of their water loss reduction efforts. Recent interest in satellite-based SAR analytics technology to proactively inspect and monitor geotechnical hazards through below surface soil moisture mapping is bringing new customers into the fold. The new UK office will position Utilis closer to customers and business partners, thereby improving response time and enabling better service be provided to existing and new customers.
“When I saw that Utilis was looking to set up in the UK I knew that I wanted to be part of the journey, taking my career full circle, back to making a difference on the ground but with a 21st century toolkit,” said Steve Baker, Managing Director and Country Manager for Utilis UK.
Although 2020 was a challenging year, Utilis has managed to expand worldwide, increase the number of customers, and achieve impressive financial results. “Steve’s experience, skills and personality will contribute significantly to fulfill the company’s plans for the UK”, said Elly Perets, Utilis CEO.
