About the Job
We are looking for a driven and proactive Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our North America team, based in San Diego, CA. As an SDR at ASTERRA, you will play a pivotal role in driving our growth by generating and qualifying new business opportunities and building the top of our sales pipeline. You’ll be the first point of contact for potential clients, helping them understand the value of ASTERRA’s unique SAR-based solutions. This is a full-time position reporting to the North America Senior Sales Manager, with 10–20% travel, primarily for conferences and occasional client meetings.
In this Role, You’ll:
Prospecting & Outreach
- Identify and research target accounts and stakeholders within industrial and governmental sectors.
- Execute outbound prospecting strategies, including cold calling, personalized email campaigns, and social selling.
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect needs and challenges, and assess fit for ASTERRA’s solutions.
Lead Qualification & Management
- Promptly follow up on inbound marketing leads and qualify them based on predefined criteria.
- Schedule qualified meetings and coordinate seamless handoffs to the Sales Management team.
- Maintain accurate lead and activity data in our CRM system (Zoho).
Collaboration & Strategy
- Collaborate with Sales Managers to align on territories, accounts, and engagement strategies.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to improve lead generation initiatives.
- Provide input to enhance prospecting messaging, cadences, and workflows.
Continuous Improvement
- Consistently meet or exceed monthly quotas for qualified opportunities generated.
- Stay informed on industry trends, market dynamics, and ASTERRA’s evolving offerings.
- Participate in ongoing training and mentorship to sharpen your sales skills.
Travel
- Attend relevant industry conferences and networking events (approx. 10–20% travel).
- Occasionally attend early-stage client meetings if required to support sales efforts.
What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in a Sales Development Representative or Inside Sales role with strong outbound prospecting (“cold calling”) skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with active listening and strong phone presence.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and clearly communicate value propositions.
- Strong research skills for identifying and connecting with decision-makers.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (Zoho experience preferred or ability to learn quickly).
- Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven with strong time management skills.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding KPIs.
- Experience with sales engagement tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of government procurement processes and public sector sales cycles is a plus.
- Experience in selling B2B tech, SaaS, or geospatial/data-driven solutions is a plus.
