ASTERRA EarthWorks is a patented, satellite-based solution that uses L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and polarimetric processing (PolSAR) to detect soil moisture anomalies beneath road infrastructure — near pavement, across rights-of-way, and along adjacent slopes.

Most pavement failures begin underground. Saturated subgrade, failed drainage, and utility leakage weaken road foundations long before cracking, rutting, or sinkholes appear at the surface. Traditional pavement condition surveys (PCI) and visual inspections can tell you where roads are failing but not why.
