Background
With ongoing climate change, water scarcity and infrastructure resilience are top international priorities for many countries. There is a clear environmental, social and financial imperative to better protect water resources and secure the infrastructure we all rely on every day. To date, ASTERRA has worked to reduce water loss and carbon emissions in more than 65 countries, helping to save more than a billion cubic metres of water and 177,000 metric tons of carbon every year.
Developed from technology that finds water on other planets, ASTERRA is proud to have created satellite solutions that can help OUR world. We believe there is much more we can do for the planet and humanity…
Understanding ground stability is fundamental to safely engineering the infrastructure we all rely on. When slopes become unstable and landslides happen, there is a very high social and economic cost. When dams fail, the environmental and social impact is astronomical. If we could predict where these failures might happen and implement preventative measures, the benefit to society would be huge.
In the ground engineering market, water is the number one enemy and is responsible for about 85% of ground engineering failures. Our patented L-Band SAR analytics can ”see” below roads or vegetation to detect the presence of water and produce soil moisture maps for large areas which can be used to indicate slope stability risk, potential dam seepage and likely landslide areas.
